Terms of Use
The rules that apply when you use this site.
Last updated: 13 August 2026
1. Agreement
By using Boot Media Notes you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. They apply to every visitor, whether or not you contact us.
2. What this site is
An independent publication of reference articles about bootable media, firmware and storage. Content is provided for general information. It is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for the documentation supplied by a hardware manufacturer or software publisher.
3. No software distribution
We do not host, mirror, bundle, distribute or link to software. This site is text and illustrations. Any software you use is governed by its own publisher's licence and terms, not by ours, and support questions about it belong to that publisher.
4. Use at your own risk
Procedures described here can erase data permanently. Preparing bootable media rewrites the target device. Changing firmware settings can prevent a machine from starting. You are responsible for identifying the correct device, for keeping a verified backup, and for the consequences of actions you take on your own equipment.
5. Accuracy and availability
We take care to be accurate and we correct errors when they are reported. We do not warrant that content is complete, current or error-free, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Firmware and software change; an article correct at its review date may not describe your hardware today.
6. Intellectual property
Text and original illustrations on this site belong to the operator of Boot Media Notes unless stated otherwise. You may read, print and share links freely, and quote short extracts with attribution and a link. Republishing whole articles, or using the content to train automated systems for commercial redistribution, requires written permission.
Product names and trademarks referenced in articles belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure.
- Do not use automated tools in a way that degrades the service for others.
- Do not misrepresent this site's content as coming from any project or vendor described in it.
- Do not use the contact channels for unsolicited commercial messages.
8. External sites
This site does not link to external websites. Where an article names a product, a standard or an organisation, it does so descriptively; naming something is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a statement about anything published elsewhere.
9. Advertising
The site may display advertising. Advertisements are supplied by third parties and are labelled as advertising. We are not a party to any transaction between you and an advertiser, and we make no representation about advertised goods or services. Complaints about a specific advertisement should go to the advertising network as well as, if you wish, to us.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including data loss, arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Changes
We may revise these terms. The current version is always the one published here with the date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of establishment, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you reside. Nothing here removes a right you hold under the law that applies to you.
